With nearly 10 years of teaching experience, Helena works extensively with students of all ages and levels in a professional, patient, detailed and creative style. She cares about students and provides a welcoming and supportive environment. Students like her, they love to communicate with her and show their true selves in front of her.
Helena believes learning music is a self discovery and development process. She believes that all students are gifted with unique characteristics and merits. They all deserve the opportunity to feel and learn the music at their own pace and in their own ways. She strives to provide all students with a fun experience in their music learning. She tailors her lessons to each individual student, and helps them to discover and reach their full potentials in their quests for music.
Helena teaches piano private lessons for all ages and levels. She strives to cultivate musicianship in their students through practicing and learning the skills and pieces. She also helps students prepare for the competitions and piano exams (RCM, ABRSM, CM, Guild, etc.). The lessons consist of technique training, repertoire performance, sight-reading, basic theory, music history, and solfege.
Helena teaches group classes of music theory and solfeggio. The classes target students with some basic foundations of music. It helps them to systematically study music theory and solfeggio, especially in preparation for the theory exams of ABRSM and CM. As part of their study of music theory, students also develop sight-reading skills, aural skills, and musicianship that helps connect music theory to piano performance..
Helena teaches K-8 music class using Dalcroze Eurhythmics, Kodaly method, and Orff Schulwerk. The class focuses on vocal music and also includes rhythmic movements, music games, ear training, and music history. It lays a solid foundation for the students while they have fun exploring music.
